Frequently Asked Questions

How does eBay's final value fee work?
eBay charges a final value fee (FVF) on the total sale amount (item price plus any shipping you charge the buyer). Rates are tiered: most categories charge 13.25% on the first $7,500, then 2.35% on the amount above that. Some categories have different rates, caps (e.g. Musical Instruments max $350), or flat fees (e.g. Real Estate $35 flat).
Are there any other eBay fees not shown here?
This calculator covers the final value fee, the $0.30 per-order fee, an optional promoted listings ad rate, and an optional insertion fee ($0.35 for listings beyond your free monthly allotment). It does not include optional listing upgrade fees such as bold title or gallery plus.
Does eBay charge separately for payment processing?
No. EBay's managed payments system bundles payment processing into the final value fee. There is no separate PayPal or processing fee for most sellers using eBay's built-in checkout.
Does an eBay Store subscription lower my fees?
Yes. Store subscriptions reduce your FVF rate: Starter saves 0.4 pp, Basic saves 0.9 pp, Premium saves 1.9 pp, and Anchor/Enterprise save 2.5 pp. Use the Store Subscription selector to see how the discount affects your payout. Store subscriptions have their own monthly cost, so the savings need to outweigh that fee to be worthwhile.
